Romona Contracts C & C Technologies for C-Nav® Globally-corrected GPS

February 05, 2004 - C & C Technologies (Asia-Pacific) Pte Ltd in Singapore recently signed a long term contract to supply Romona with C-Nav® equipment and correction signals. C & C will deliver C-Nav equipment to Romona's offices in Sakhalin, Vietnam, Thailand and the Middle East to support their international operations.

C-Nav is a new concept in GPS positioning, which is rapidly gaining ground as the standard for offshore survey and positioning applications. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and NavCom Technology, a John Deere subsidiary, independently and concurrently invested 10 years of research and development on this project in their pursuit to provide centimeter accuracy for their respective applications. C & C Technologies, through their partnership with NavCom Technology, has used this research to develop commercial applications for the offshore oil related marine markets.

C-Nav uses a global network of reference sites equipped with dual-frequency geodetic-quality GPS receivers to simultaneously track and monitor the entire GPS constellation. These sites transmit the data via two independent Network Processing Hubs (NPH), which provide 100% redundancy. The NPHs calculate orbit and clock corrections for each satellite in the GPS constellation. These corrections are packaged and up-linked to the INMARSAT communication satellites for global broadcast to all C-Nav users in real time. Each C-Nav receiver integrates these corrector values while comparing the L-1 and L-2 frequencies to eliminate ionospheric and troposphere effects.

The end result is a true Global GPS service with real time decimeter-level accuracy. Current users of C-Nav have commented that its increased accuracy, low cost of equipment, and worldwide correction signals make it the best positioning system on the market.
