AUV cost savings
The deeper the water and the larger number of line turns, the greater the AUV cost savings.
In depths greater than about 400 meters, the AUV is more cost effective than a deep towed system.
For rectangular survey areas, an AUV is 10 percent less expensive and requires only 50 percent of the time needed for a deep tow survey.
For linear surveys such as pipelines and cable routes, the cost is approximately 85 percent of a comparable deep tow survey.
