AUV launch and retrieval

The C-Surveyor AUV launch and retrieval system is built into a standard 20 foot shipping container that can be secured to the stern of the survey ship.

To retrieve the system, the AUV is brought to the surface and commanded to release its positively buoyant nose cone.

A 10 meter floating rope between the AUV and the nose cone then becomes the target of a grapnel tied to the retrieval winch.

A harpoon gun is used to propel the grapnel over the floating AUV rope and retrieve the AUV.

This procedure works well in up to five meter seas and prevents any personnel from leaving the ship.

Past Foundation Deep Wrecks

The Deep Wrecks Project website is a unique program of research to study how structures or objects function as artificial reefs in deep water. Sunken vessels will be documented and studied as historic sites for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.
