A cable is a rope of wire, hemp, or other strong fibers. A coaxial cable is a transmission cable consisting of two concentric conductors insulated from each other. A cable layer is a deep-sea vessel designed and used to lay underwater cables for telecommunications, electricity, and such; also called a cable ship.
