Naval Research Laboratory projects

C & C Technologies, Inc. has been awarded the following contracts from the Naval Research Laboratory:

  • Perform general maintenance of the vessels
  • Support for field operations
  • New sensor integration and testing
  • Vessel research, development, upgrades and modifications
  • Training

In 1993, C & C was selected by the Naval Research Laboratory at Stennis Research Center in Mississippi to modify two ORCA vessels (semi-submersible autonomous underwater vessels). The tasks included the development of the capability to collect hydrographic and oceanographic data using multibeam systems via remote control from a mother ship.

Early Navy AUV experience acted as a springboard for the development of the C-Surveyor™ I AUV. It allowed C & C to perfect the guidance system, operational logistics, and data collection, compression and real-time transmission capabilities long before our competitors were "out of the gate." The U.S. Navy played a significant role in the monumental success of C & C's Surveyor Class AUVs.
